The Summer of 2025 in the Ozarks has been a scorcher. As the Spring rains faded, the heat and humidity rolled in.

Buzzing with Life
This year, we’ve witnessed a surge in pollinators. By interplanting our garden, we’ve created a unique variety that attracts winged visitors of all kinds. Watching these creatures buzz and float about has added joy to our garden.

Our New Favorite Pepper
Let’s talk about our new culinary star: the Biquinho Red pepper from Baker Creek Seeds. These peppers are a flavor explosion, with a blend of spice, floral notes, and sweetness. They’re perfect for brightening up a pizza or adding a kick to your pickling recipes! Stay tuned as I think we will add this to our starter plants to sell next Spring.
Enhancing Our Soil
This summer, we’ve focused on enriching our soil with vermicompost extracts. It was a great way to give individual plants a boost as they needed it. If you are interested in trying some of this, we brew it fresh to order.
Rain Collection
As we continue to enhance our soil with microbial life from vermicompost, biochar, and compost, we dream of a day when our garden will function like a giant rain barrel, capable of retaining more water as the soil improves. This process takes time, but already we’re noticing positive changes during this drought season compared to previous years.
Looking Ahead
We’ve also planted our fall crops and cover crops, anticipating the days ahead filled with soups and freshly baked sourdough. The thought of these seasonal delights keeps us motivated!

You and yours be blessed,
